What type of wax do you use?
We use 100% soy wax. Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.
Cleaner Burning - no toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means it's less likely to trigger allergies. No petrol-carbon soot (black smoke) like you get from petroleum-based paraffin candles.
Longer Lasting - soy wax burns cooler which means that you can enjoy your soy wax candle for generally 30-50% longer than a paraffin candle.
Stronger Scent- Because of the lower melting point of soy wax, there is a larger amount of the liquid wax pool around the candle wick itself.
What kind of wicks do you use?
ScentsXchange uses pure unbleached cotton wicks.
What kind of fragrance oils do you use?
ScentsXchange uses a combination of natural, essential and fragrance oils. This allows our fragrances to be very complex and diverse and gives us a wide range of raw materials to choose from when creating new and exciting fragrances. It also allows our fragrances to be more consistent from batch to batch.
Is there a special way to burn your candle?
Yes! A candle burn is affected by several factors including size and shape of vessel, wick, fragrance oil, temperature/draft in the room, etc. The key to achieving the perfect burn is to always allow your candle to completely liquefy across the top before blowing it out to avoid tunneling. Before each burn, make sure your wick is trimmed to ¼”. Don’t drop debris, like matches or wick trimmings, into the wax. Don’t place your burning candle on sensitive or uneven surfaces. Discontinue burning your candle when about ½” of wax remains.
How long does your wax melts smell?
An entire bar can last 50-80 hours depending on the scent notes in the fragrance. You can make your wax retain scent longer if you only warm it to the point your room is filled with scent, and then turn it off. Lastly, switch up your scents. If you use the same scent over and over it won’t seem as your room smells like the wax scent.
How long does the candles last?
- 4 oz approximately 24-48 hours
- 9 oz approximately 50-60 hours
***These times all depends on air currents in the home or office.
